Nash Lately

Good Morning, Son! Puzzles, pigeon books, and wild hair. What more could a boy ask for?

Sometimes when I am in the kitchen, I will leave Nash in his room for a few minutes. It's mostly safe and I can hear him. After less than minute alone, I heard a few crashes (which is better than one, which usually means he fell). I ran over and saw this. He pulled most of his books off of one shelf. This boy loves to read (and make messes).

We had a play date with the Amys and Joanne and kiddos. Rex is almost cooked and will hopefully be part of the next play date party. Here are Gunnar and Nash hanging out. There is a 6 month difference in age. Can you believe it?

Here's Stephanie holding baby G. She's a baby whisperer.

ER had Sil and NAP in the Fire Engine tent. Sil loved it!

ER strummin'.

UPDATE: Auntie Erin in NC enhanced this pic for me, so you don't have to strain to see the wild hair! NAP was suffering from some static electricity.

KP never puts the hangers in the basket correctly, we suppose.. NAP feels the need to throw them out for him to put in correctly.

NAP and the pugs.

My moose, Zeus. Such a sweet boy.

Here's an oldie, but goodie that I forgot to put on. I love this little outfit on NAP.

And did you spot the shoes? Auntie Sharon made these sweet bunny shoes for Nash before he was born. I love them!

Winter Hat

Nash looks so darn cute in hats. I am not sure if it's because of the ginormous size of his head or that he's just so darn cute in everything. Either way, we can't get enough. We found this hat with the tag still on in the box from Midge and UM and the boys. WE LOVE hand-me-downs!

Don't mind the food on his face!

NAP: 11 Months

Dear Nash,
You turned 11 months old this past week while we were in Houston. For some reason, I CAN believe you are 11 months, though that does not mean that the time has not flown by. I can believe that you are just one month shy of a year because you have so much going on.

Developmentally, you are soaring. You have a tiny vocabulary, which consists of yes which usually sounds like dat, Dada or Da-deee, Cat, Dog, Hi, cool, and Mama (sometimes). You are standing and just last night, took your first steps. Because you spent so much time without us and with family last weekend, we were certain they were protecting our feelings and just didn't share that you walked, but turns out Daddy and I got to see the first official steps. You walked from daddy to the ottoman in your room. It was four steps all together. You have not repeated it since, but it's on the horizon for sure. You cruise from thing to thing like a pro, climb on top of objects, and maneuver your way around. You seem to think crawling is pase and sometimes refuse to move if we don't help you walk.

You are eating wonderfully. You eat cherries (your favorite), saltine goldfish, chicken nuggets, turkey burgers, cinnamon rolls, baby food veggies, and lots of fruit. I am still nursing you. Can you freaking believe it?! We have almost made it to one year. I cannot. I had no goal of making it this long and little guy, I would not have done it if you hadn't refused 4 kinds of formula. But, you did and we're both stronger for it, I guess. I have to start figuring out how to wean you. Hopefully this means you will someday sleep through the night. Whatever.

Your favorite activity is still reading books. You love the Mo Willems pigeon books. We read a lot. So much so that Daddy and I sometimes want to hide the books. Only kidding! It's a wonderful time for us to sit and cuddle with you. You love to play with your toys, ride in the wagon, make noise on the guitar and drum, and get in your new fire engine tent. You dance all of the time. You shake your little hips and put one arm in the air, sometimes pointing your finger! You started giving hugs with pats to Elmo, the Pigeon, and your peeps. When we're holding you, you tuck your arms into ours and snuggle close. You have become quite the cuddler, when in the mood.

Your personality is happy, yet strong-willed, which pretty much shows you are both Daddy and my child.

Nash, we cannot get enough of you. Last night I checked on you three times before bed just to stare at your little face. You are amazing.

Love,
Mom

Christmas in Austin

On the 26th, we headed home to have Christmas with Grandma, Grandpa, and Ade. Of course, the wagon came with us.

Grandma and her first-born grandchild. Do you think they love each other?

We Skyped KP's grandparents and Aunt and Uncle in Florida. They are really from Iowa, but keep warm in Florida in the winter.

Here's Nash opening his block table. He loves to take the blocks off and throw them on the ground.

Nash likes climbing these days.

Grandpa got a shirt embroidered with "The Instigator". That's what Mommy calls him. He loves to stir the pot!

Daddy got a Multi Tool that he's been drooling over. He was very excited!

Ade got a new computer. She was SHOCKED! It was a great Christmas that continued all week while Grandma vacationed with NAP. We had great family dinners, too many wine nights, and lots of baby love.

Christmas Morning

NASH's 1st CHRISTMAS!

Elmo made it to the top of Nash's stocking to greet him on Christmas morning. his Elmo plushie gets lots of hugs with pats from Nash. We'd never seen him do that before Elmo's arrival, but now he loves to give hugs with pats to his peeps and his toys.

His loot from Santa! Puzzles, noisemakers, bath toys, and alphabet train, and lots of books all came from the big bearded guy!

Christmas morning with Daddy.

Daddy got a paper jam in his stocking from Mimi. Nash loves to play it too.

Here's a pic of the alphabet train, in it's box. Nash loves when it sings the ABC's. He dances along with it.

Sweet boy.

So Big! This is how Nash spends his free time now. He loves being driven around in his wagon with all of his toys.

For lunch, we went to Midge and UM's. Nash loves his UM. Also note, Davis let Nash borrow his pigeon, from the Mo Willems book series. Nash loves this pigeon even more than Elmo. Pigeon gets hugs, pats, and kisses (aka he bites the beak).

Midge set a beautiful table and put these little lego sculptures at each setting. Luke and Davis had Lego advent calendars. We're going to have to find one for Nash next year. So cool.

Christmas Eve

We spend Christmas Eve at Mimi and Buddy's place, Three Sisters Acres. We had a great time!

Luke and Davis showed us thier unofficial martial arts skills early in the evening. Here they are bowing. I am guessing NUT (Tim) is also bowing in the background.

Dave looking pretty sweet in his outfit.

Our first Family Christmas Picture.

Sue Sue and Buddy being silly!

Mimi and Buddy at Christmas.

Nash Potato opening Christmas gifts! The cousins and Midge and UM (Uncle Matt) got Nash puzzles, books, balls, and a really cool ball toy that has us all scrambling! Sue Sue and NUT got Nash books and a Super Nash cape (it has yet to arrive, but we are super excited). Mimi and Buddy got Nash a wagon. To say he's in love is an understatement.

Toys!!
This is how Nash has spent much of the last week. He LOVES being in his wagon.

Luke loves pie!
Midge has a Christmas tradition of wearing a bow all night long. Yep, she's silly.

I made lots and lots and lots of rounds around Mimi and Buddy's house with the wagon.

SueSue and NUT.

Mommy and UM were paparazzi.

After several days of helping around Mimi and Buddy's, Daddy was tired (and ready for Santa to come!)
