WDP: 1 Month
Dear Wren,
Whoa. One month. That flew by. Except for those long nights and hours of colic, but you know...par for the course with a newborn. You fit right in with our little family. It's like there was a place waiting for you that we didn't know about.
You eat like a champ and sleep at night, thank God. You have some rough times during the day and before bed. These issues seem to be in your stomach. We tried reflux medicine (Prilosec) for a week and saw no noticeable difference, so you are back off. Your spitting up is under control for the most by. My guess is that your little digestive system is just developing more every day.
Wren, your brother LOVES you. You haven't zoned in on him yet at all, but he's very aware of you. He talks about you constantly (Sister cries. Where's Sister? Kiss Sister.) and wants to kiss you all the time.
Daddy loves holding you and you seem very comfortable in his arms. He's proud to have a little girl and loves to show you off.
You and I spend lots of time together. You need to be held upright most of the time, so when I need more hands, I wear you in the Ergo, which is a lot. You have already been on several real estate appointments with me and seem to be a good luck charm!
Wren, we are enjoying you immensely. You are our little bird, our lioness, our daughter, Nash's sister, and so much more. We never knew that we were missing so much.
We love you,
Mom

NAP: 23 Months
Dear Nash,
What a month it has been. We all welcomed your new sister, or sistagee or sisty as you call her. You seem to really like her and you love to give her kisses.
Unfortunately you were mighty sick when she came home. You only had a nasty cold, but keeping you away from sister and not being able to hold and cuddle you non-stop was a challenge. Thankfully you are feeling much better.
You really enjoyed having your people here over the holidays. You have picked out Grampy as your new best friend, though Mimi and Grammy are faves too. You finally warmed up to Buddy too!
This was the Christmas of trains. You got a train table from Santa and a real train set from Mimi and Buddy. You have really been enjoying your trains and making trains out of other things that you request we push around the house like storage containers and laundry baskets. Mimi taught you to say "All Aboard!" While it's hard on our backs, we oblige.
My energy level is finally getting better, though I have not figured out the balance of having two children, one that likes to be held constantly. You are generally really good about this, but other times show you need attention by clearing the train table in one fell swoop. You have been playing with Daddy lots and have been having a really good time outside on the nice days.
You are talking like crazy. There's nothing in your world you can't communicate in one way or another. You love reading. You can identify all of your letters and numbers to 10. You know all of your colors. You really enjoy singing songs with hand motions and have started dancing more.
You love school and have a favorite little friend. You like to play, jump, go outside, play in the truck, play tug of war with the dogs, and watching elmo and gabby (Yo Gabba Gabba). You are still a picky eater; part of that is our fault...we just go with what's easy.
Nash, your intelligence and newly budding imagination is pretty awesome. You are so observatory and talkative. You are sweet and cuddly and wild too. You have already shown that you are going to be a good brother. I look forward to the days when I can find a better balance and be more hands-on with you again.
I love you dearly,
Mom
Wrenny Wren Wren
My goodness, how I have failed this blog. Wren is three weeks old and I have posted NO pictures here.
About Wren: She sleeps and eats, a lot. She has wonderful brown hair. It's short and fuzzy on the top and very long down her neck. She has huge cheeks, almond eyes, and my eyebrows. She has long fingers and long finger nails. Her belly button is an innie. She loves to have her diaper changed and prefers to poop in a clean diaper. She really wants to be a thumb sucker. She furrows her brow and wrinkles her face at new thing, which is frequently. I joke and say she's going to have wrinkles by age 5. Unfortunately she also has an immature tummy. We tried reflux meds, which we have suspended because we saw little improvement. She's just gassy and fits the colic definition. She sleeps in the swing, which seems to help some. Thankfully, we have done this before and we know she will (eventually) grow out of it. She loves to be held. She's really hard to burp. She loves when Brother is around and making lots of noise. She loves to be outside and take walks. She is very sweet. She has started looking around and smiling some. Ok, enough of that...these are what you came for. They are in chronological order.
