Vacation: All I Ever Wanted...

We went to Galveston last week with my side of the family. All of my side of the family. We had good times. NAP was a champ, despite whatever is going on with his stomach. I can't wait until he wants to play in the sand!

Don't try this at home...because it won't work.. Napping on vacay is delightful.

We swam a couple of times at our beach house's pool. Check out the hand-eye coordination here! Luke is cheesing it up too! He's is such a fish in the pool and can swim like crazy.

A little more baby pool action.

Uncle Matt and Davis. Davis is fearless in the water and like to jump to his peeps.

SueSue is soaking up some sun.

Luke and Davis got their fishing poles out and caught some people in the pool!

Buddy was a frying/cooking machine on vacay. He's the food guy, you know?

Daddy, being Daddy.
Mimi! Mimi took care of me while my parents went to Schlitterbahn. She really makes me smile.

I am a ham. I giggle, screech, drool, and I am a bit of a piggy.

SueSue and NUT. He's silly.

Luke's showing of his sharks' teeth. He had dentures made. Just kidding.

We had a dance party. It was so fun. Those Byman boys know how to dance. So does Michael Patrick. Mommy video'ed it. Hopefully she will post it soon.

Buddy got sucked into a book and looked like this for many hours. Like his scruff?

The boys hanging on the deck. Can you spot me?

Here I am!

Aunt Donna and TC came down for a day or two. They crack me up! Luke told Aunt Donna that she's loud. I wonder if she's ever heard that before?

Michael Patrick and Buddy got into a pool pulling/pushing match. Pretty funny!

This is the only web-friendly picture Mommy has of Veronica. She tortured her brother with silly string.

NAP: 4 Months

Dear Nash,

You are awesome. I feel like I really don't need to say more than that, but I will because your awesomeness can be explained. You are such a little person. I feel like you communicate with me in so many ways, through lifting your legs when you want to bicycle, screeching in joy, rubbing your tired eyes, and getting fussy when I listen to NPR when you want to listen to pop. You really do like Top 40 music. It must be the beat.

You watch everything Dad and I do. Your still blue eyes track us across rooms. You get so excited when Daddy comes home each afternoon that you squeal in delight. You love to play with a few of your toys, especially Ellie, a blue elephant that Mimi let you swipe from her collection. You tolerate tummy time for much longer and are getting to be pretty strong. You hold your head completely and love to "walk" on our laps. Dad even helps you walk across the dinner table some nights.
You still love bath time. You alternate between sucking on your hands and kicking so hard that water splashes all over the kitchen. Dad and I love it! Speaking of hands, you love those things and your feet too. You love to hold your feet in your hands. That makes diaper changes a bit of a challenge, but it's so cute that we're up to it.

The only time you are fussy is when you're tired (you never get hungry as you eat every 2 hours during the day still). Putting you down is not too difficult, but we are trying to kick the swaddle, so we'll see if that statement stands next month. Oh, and did I ever tell you that right before you are "officially" asleep that you smile? Oh yeah, precious.

And the biggest new baby accomplishment: YOU GIGGLE. Sweet boy, that giggle warms my heart, literally. I run from whatever room I am in to see and hear that giggle up close. Typically we have to work very hard to get you to giggle, but it's worth every tickle and high-pitched song and dance. Just once you giggled spontaneously, when we arrived home from a trip and I laid you down on your changing pad. Boy were you glad to be home!

Don't tell our pediatrician, but you also went swimming for the first time this past month. You liked it, for about four minutes. I am still trying to decide if it's worth all the changing to put you back in the pool.

While you are warming up to others in your life, you still prefer me and Dad. The people that ease into holding you tend to do better than those who just grab you. You seem to like to get to know your friends first. But, all bets are going to be off soon, as we're going on vacation with Mommy's side of the family. Don't worry, you are going to get a few good days with Daddy's side before we leave for our trip.

Nash, I am positive that there are a zillion other awesome things that you do, but we can't make all of the other babies look like deadbeats, so I will brag no further. Until next month, of course.
I love you to the moon and back,
Mom

At It Again

So, this morning I decided to spice up my wardrobe and use a giant purse as a diaper bag/purse. I pulled out my huge brown leather bag that I got in Mexico two years ago. You know, the one that I bought solely because the clerk did not make me pay for the scary sculpture that I broke. It was a set up of epic proportions, I tell you.

Anyway, I started digging though the bag and clearing the trash out. Yes this bag is large enough to dig though and hold trash. What I found reminded me of a totally different time in my life. There were three Luna bars, a string cheese wrapper, and a list of exercises from my sis-in-law. People, this bag was last used at a healthier time in my life.

Just this week, Aud and I decided that we were going back on WW and doing it together. We also decided that it would be silly to join before vacation, so we're a few weeks from the official start date. In the meantime, we agreed to be conscientious and just watch what we take in. And would you know it Internet, I have been watching so well! I watched as I ate cheesecake and lemon cake yesterday. I watched as I ate Mexican food and then a cake ball for lunch today. And, I can guarantee that I will watch the consumption of some empty calories this weekend.

I am terrible, I know.

So, in the coming weeks I will begin updating on my progress. I have to hold myself accountable somehow (other than simply having my little sis show me up!). Get ready for the big ball of fun that is my weight loss journey.

Off to find more sugar...

Happy Friday

See Internet, I do smile, just not often for the camera. That thing is scary. It turns my Mommy into a Cyclops.

Sick

Internet, I have been sick. I got my first cold at 3 1/2 months, which Mommy hears is much better than getting it earlier. Mommy did so good and didn't even call the doctor (yet). She and Daddy have instead been torturing me with saline spray in the nose, that dreaded aspirator, and they make me sleep with a humidifier and on an incline. It's crazy around here.

Because of all of my snot, Mommy has taken to calling me Boogie Bear. I really hope that isn't what sticks.

Anyway, I feel much better now that I am on day 10 of this stinky sickness. I just have the stuffies in the morning now. I never did have a fever, thankfully. Who knows, it could just be allergies, which would be fitting since my peeps have them really bad and our town is the worst for them.

Oh, and GusGus is a little sick too. He has a terrible hot spot on his head. Thanks to SueSue and NUT, he's on the mend too.

Don't worry, we should all be in tip top shape soon!

Guess what I found?

My Feet. Don't you dare try to get in my way of holding these things. They are fabulous.

Grandpa Finally Held Me!

And then I wobbled and he promptly gave me back to Mommy.
